Coffee Tour

Bean to brew, the authentic coffee excursion in Antigua Guatemala

The coffee growers lead our signature coffee tours from the community of San Miguel Escobar on the outskirts of Antigua. They will lead you through their fields, explain the work behind cultivating coffee, walk you through each processing step from bean to brew, and finish the tour by joining you for a coffee in their home. Along the way, you’ll learn more than just the process behind coffee--you’ll have authentic and transparent conversations with small-scale producers to hear firsthand about their obstacles, triumphs, and goals as coffee growers and experience their persisting enthusiasm and dedication to the coffee industry.

    • Round-trip transportation from Antigua to the producer’s home

    • Spanish-English interpretation

    • Tour through the coffee fields including a demonstration of traditional roasting and grinding

    • Cup of coffee at the producer’s home

    • 12 ounce bag of roasted coffee

  • $38.00 per person (ages 5 and older).

+$10.00 per person to include lunch at the producer’s home ((we accommodate vegans/vegetarians and those who are gluten free).

*Minimum of 2 adult participants needed to run a Coffee Tour. Tours can still be conducted for individuals unable to join a group for an additional $15 fee. If you are a solo traveler you can make your reservation on your preferred date and time, and in the scenario there is not a group to join, you have the option to pay for the SOLO TRAVELER FEE or we can process a refund.

  • Shuttle pick up time: 8:45 am for morning tours/1:45 pm for afternoon tours.

Shuttle pickup location: Inside Cafegrafía coffee shop located on the west side of Antigua at the corner of 7th Calle Poniente and Calzada Santa Lucia (Click here for the location).

The entire experience (from pick up to drop off at Ermita de Santa Lucía Catholic Church in Antigua) lasts approximately 3 ½ to 4 hours. You can expect to return back to Antigua around 12:45 pm/5:30 pm.

  • Reservations must be made at least the day before the desired tour date.

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the time of the Coffee Tour will still be charged. To schedule a tour with a producer, he/she forgoes a day of work in their fields to be able to welcome and host visitors, so last minute cancellations mean a lost day of work and income.

The shuttle will arrive at the shuttle pick up location slightly before the pick up time to leave at 8:45 am/1:45 pm. If your party has not arrived by 8:55 am/1:55 pm, we will consider it a cancellation.

    • Camera

    • Money (Guatemalan currency) if you would like to purchase additional coffee direct from the producer

    • Water

    • Sneakers or trainers (you will be hiking a short distance on the slopes of a volcano)

    • Sunscreen and/or hat

    • Rain jacket or poncho (during the rainy season from May to November, especially in the afternoons)

  • During your Coffee Tour, you can expect to walk approximately 5 kilometers (3.2 miles) as we make our way through the fields and back to the producer's home in town. Parts of the walk include uneven terrain, loose dirt paths and trails, and while minimal overall elevation gain, some parts of the walk are steep. If you foresee having any difficulty participating in this kind of activity, we can make the necessary adjustments so that you have the most enjoyable experience possible. Just please be sure to add those notes during your checkout process.
